Tourism in East Anglia set for brighter future (1 Sept 2011)

Visit East Anglia, a new organisation to promote tourism across East Anglia is launched today. Created and supported by some of the top tourism businesses in Norfolk and Suffolk, Visit East Anglia will market the many attractive destinations and experiences offered by the area to both domestic and international audiences.
Visit East Anglia now owns and operates the successful consumer website www.visiteastofengland.com, together with the sizeable customer database and Destination Management System that support both this website and many others across the region. The organisation is already working on new functionality for the website that will bring more business development opportunities for local tourism businesses.
As well as providing support for many businesses in the across the area through its soon to be launched business partnership programme, Visit East Anglia will also work very closely with local Destination Management Organisations to support their vital work promoting their areas. Visit East Anglia is also working closely with the Local Authorities, and plans for it to act as an umbrella body to deliver tourism promotion services across Norfolk and Suffolk to provide economies of scale are under active discussion.
Visit East Anglia is a not for profit Company Limited by Guarantee, is funded by the private sector and is Chaired by Richard Ellis. Keith Brown is the Chief Executive and a team of specialists is available ‘on demand' with marketing, distribution, public relations, market intelligence and design expertise for partners to benefit from.
Tourism in East Anglia is worth over £4 billion a year and the area has great opportunities for further growth and job creation, not least with the upcoming London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games plus the Queen's Jubilee celebrations. Visit East Anglia will be an essential business partner both during and beyond this exciting period.
